The Goodnight - Now Open!

You may have already seen the signs as you cruise down Anderson Lane. The Goodnight, Bowling-Dining-Revelry, has opened in The Village Shopping Center.

There are 8 vintage lanes with plush lounge seating as well as available bottle service, dining and custom bowling balls.  But it doesn’t stop there! They also have shuffleboard, table tennis, skee ball, pool, board games and even air guitar.

The Goodnight offers a wide array of menu items from sliders and pizza to pecan-fried beef tenderloin.  They’ll be using local and homegrown ingredients right from their own garden, counting on local farmers for anything else.  With a full service bar, a Saturday and Sunday Brunch, live music and an outdoor patio for lounging, you’ll be set for all of your revelry needs!

Austin’s new construction is booming so there have been a few delays on getting permits and inspections.  General Manager, Mo Wark, thanks everyone for their patience. “Allandale is a great neighborhood that we cannot wait to be a part of. Our chef, Reggie Ferguson, is a long time resident of Allandale and we all love it here.  We have a lot to offer our guests at The Goodnight, but at the heart of it I would really like to be a neighborhood joint.  If that means a beer and a snack on the way home from work, or a blowout birthday party in our boutique bowling alley, we are here for the community,” says Wark.

The Goodnight just opened its doors. Let’s go out and support our new neighbors!

Tarka - Indian Cuisine Review

Tarka, which means “the sizzle of freshly sautéed ingredients” is located on Anderson Lane in the Northcross Shopping Center.  Nicknamed the little sister of Clay Pit (the owner’s upscale Indian restaurant) it brings fresh, fast and flavorful food into neighborhood.  Tarka features a modern décor with a clean, bright, and simple eating space.  It has a similar feel to Pei Wei and Fire Bowl featuring a large menu on the wall and a walk up area with several registers. Everything on the menu is under $10 making this an affordable option for dining out. Fast-casual is the concept here and we didn’t have to wait in any lines!

The children’s menu has great options with rice bowls, kabobs, and my daughter Siena’s choice, the Chicken Pakora ($4.25) with fries (Indian style chicken tenders). They brought out Siena’s food first which I was grateful for because timing is everything with a toddler.  She gobbled up this tasty meal and they even brought her a little container of ketchup for dipping.  I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala ($8) and Garlic Naan ($2) both of which came out piping hot.  This dish was delicious and accompanied with a nice serving of rice.  It was a good-sized portion and we even wrapped some up to go.  Word on the street is that they can do things pretty spicy so I chose the mild option and let my daughter sample my dish and the spice was just right.  We also ordered a delicious mango lemonade and next time hope to try one of the lassis (mango and guava look yummy).  Happy hour was in full swing with several couples enjoying a glass of wine and they also have a selection of beer.

Tarka is also recognized as a Green Restaurant using environmentally friendly to-go packaging and they recycle and compost.  I saw several folks picking up take out and they offer an easy online ordering option.  There’s even a Tarka app, now that’s convenience.  If you’re looking for fast and fresh, this is the place!

78704

It's where Austin's weirdest live! I mean most eclectic. Yep, it's 78704. It's hard to get into this hood these days because it's practically considered downtown. It's part of the hip Austin scene... food trailers, strolling South Congress, live music, shops, and much much more. Check out Socodistrict.com/ for all the latest and greatest.

My clients Hayley and Anthony just closed on an amazing house just off South Congress in the heart of Austin's Soco area.  They love biking to the Austin City Limits Festival and other local events and running around Lady Bird Lake (aka Town Lake).  There are also tons of yummy restaurants, a few of their favs include Polvos, Torchy's Tacos, and Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse - Cafe.

Congrats to first time homebuyers Hayley & Anthony!

Check out HanaleiMyers.com for Austin home info or contact me to set up your own search.

Loved getting to work with this awesome couple!

4th of July - Austin Style

What an amazing 4th! We started the day bright and early for the Allandale Parade.  The weather was slightly overcast which was perfect.  I grew up in Allandale and my parents used to take me, my brother, and sister to the parade when we were kids. I still remember decorating my bike and eating snow cones!

Amy's Ice Cream, Taco Shack, Jim Jim's, and HEB were a few of the sponsors and we had a huge turn out from the Allandale Neighborhood. Bag pipes, drums, and vintage cars, it was so fun.  Siena loved it!  Especially the blueberry icecream from Amy's, what a great breakfast!

Later, we watched fireworks from my parent's roof top where Siena learned the words boom boom.  She kept saying Boom Boom Moom (Moon).  It was a spectacular sight watching the fireworks explode right under the full moon.

South Austin is where it's at!

Austin real estate is HOT HOT HOT and so when this adorable home came on the market, I knew we would need to move fast.  Multiple offers came in but we were the lucky ones who went under contract!

This little neighborhood right off of Ben White is so close to downtown and has all the nearby conveniences such as Central Market, Soco Shops and the greenbelt.  Check out the South Manchaca neighborhood!

Another favorite of mine is First Thursday on South Congress, stroll by for some cool Austin Finds and live music, all the shops stay open late.  Happens first Thursday of every month, hence the name.

If you or anyone you know is looking to find a spot in South Austin

What do Nia, The Domain & Casa de Luz have in Common?

MY BIRTHDAY!  What a perfect way to spend the day.  I started off with an awesome Nia/Pilates/Dance class taught by the amazing Deb Kern.  She channels energy from the cosmos right into that class.  It is full of positive energy and is an incredible work out.
When and Where is the Daring Diva Dance Workout?
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Tapestry Dance (2302 Western Trails, Austin, TX, 78745)
Next off to a girls lunch date and shopping at The Domain with my mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and daughter.  We dined al fresco at North.  I had a delicious Ahi Tuna Salad and my little one had the roasted vegetables, delish!  We then strolled around and soaked up a little sun and I refreshed my spring wardrobe.

The evening ended at one of my favorite restaurants that is a little oasis in the heart of Austin.  Casa De Luz, a macrobiotic dining experience is one of the healthiest spots in town to eat.  I was joined with my parents and a couple of best friends.  However, we did splurge on Upper Crust Marble Cupcakes afterwards, maybe not so healthy :)

Tarrytown - Old Meets New

Lamar Homes just remodeled a cool cottage in Tarrytown, located in West Austin.  Remodeling is on the rise as we see people wanting to be closer to downtown with the perks of a new and updated house.  Tarrytown is an affluent neighborhood with easy access to UT and Mopac.  In the past some of these older cottages were torn down and "McMansions" were popping up.  But the McMansion ordinance soon put a stop to that back in 2006 and now homeowners are getting more creative!

The owner grew up in this home located on Woodmont and rather than sell it or tearing it down, she decided to preserve it and keep it's vintage charm.  My dad, Gerald found some classic pieces to tie old and new together like this unique door knob.

Other updates included new flooring, wrought iron railings, and a completely updated kitchen with new light fixtures.

Lots in this area are scarce but Lamar Homes can do a custom build right next door to this cottage.  So if you're in the market for brand new home in Tarrytown, check out Lamar Homes for details.

Siena turns ONE!

Siena turned one year old this month!  We had a small family gathering at our Allandale home here in Austin.  One of her first words was QUACK QUACK so we decided to have a ducky theme.  My husband Merritt is a chef at Word of Mouth Catering and so he whipped up some amazing Carrot Cake Cupcakes with fresh cream cheese frosting.  She wasn't sure what to do with it at first but then got into the swing of things!

Here's the Recipe:

Carrot Cake Cupcakes......okay I lied there's 30 + ingredients, email if you'd like it ;)

Cream Cheese Frosting:
Three 8 oz. cream cheese
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
a pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp maple syrup

Pure Yumminess!
Of course I got her a pink tutu!

Recording in Austin

One of my good friends bought a Groupon for a Karaoke Studio in North Austin called King of Karaoke.  We have been singing together since high school and we were very excited to go and have fun with it.  We've all recorded professionally before so we thought it would be a great experience.  It definitely was fun but not exactly the professional quality we'd hoped for but we did make the Wall of Fame!  Anyhow, if you're looking for a fun time with the family or friends, this might be the place.

However, if you're in need of a professional recording studio check out Eastside Music.  Whether you need recording or music lessons, you'll be taken care of by a talented musician!

A Family Closing - Cedar Park Style

Siena made it to her last closing of the year!  And this time it's for her grandparents Mia & Papa Paul.  They closed on their new home in Cedar Park, Texas down the street from Twin Creeks Country Club.    This home is spectacular with a 3-car garage, stainless appliances, plantation shutters, and a screened in porch.  The backyard has gorgeous landscaping, built-in BBQ and a hot tub!

We are thrilled that family will be close by and they're so happy to have found the perfect home here.  Cedar Park is a great community and is located about 20 minutes Northwest of Austin.
